What is Watch D.O.G.S.?

  • Watch D.O.G.S.(Dads of Great Students) is a family and community engagement educational initiative.
  • Watch D.O.G.S. volunteers help:
    • Provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrated by their presence, that education is important
    • Provide an extra set of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying

Who are WATCH D.OG.S.?

  • WATCH D.O.G.S. invites fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or other father figures to volunteer at their child’s school.
  • Watch D.O.G.S. volunteers perform a variety of tasks during their volunteer day including monitoring the school entrance, assisting with unloading and loading of cars, monitoring the lunch room, or helping in the classroom with a teacher's guidance.
  • Watch D.O.G.S. schedules are tailored to some of your child’s schedule so that you spend a part of their day with your student.

BACKGROUND CHECK

  • Background Check: You MUST have an approved and current KISD background check on file with the school. Please note that you will not be able to volunteer as a Watch D.O.G.S. until your background check has been approved by KISD.
    • Background checks are required at the beginning of each school year and can take up to two weeks for processing. An application is required each school year and only one application needs to be submitted for any of the KISD campuses.

We are so grateful for your involvement and look forward to having you at HLES!
